Hi, I`m Peridot. I was surrendered to Mickaboo by someone who found me in their backyard. I was treated at the vet for bacteria, and I`m healthy now! The vet says I have an old injury which makes it difficult for me to crane my neck around to clean the feathers near my vent, but there`s nothing obvious signaling any need for further investigation, so they`re just gonna let me be a budgie, but I do need my vent cleaned at least 2x a month. I take iodine in my water every day to help with my occasional. I eat a mix of pellets and seed, and am in a normal weight range. I`ll nibble at greens, but not chow down, except for broccoli. I LOVE broccoli! I can be quite vocal. My foster mom says I am a lover. I love making eye contact with her all day and singing to let her know when I`m happy. I am mostly quiet and I am definitely curious and love other budgies. I am to get out of my cage for treats, but I really don`t like to fly that much. I will step up if you are very, Very, VERY slow and patient, and you have a treat ready for me. I like light spray baths. ouldn`t I make a lovely addition to your forever home?
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
