Hi, I`m Serena. I came with a few pals from an aviary rescue directly to Mickaboo. They took me to the vet for a checkup, and now I`m hanging with my gals at a Mickaboo foster home. My foster mom thinks I could be hand trained, but because she`s kind enough to foster many budgies, she simply doesn`t have the time to train us all! I Iove the swing and will definitely defend that perch! I`m also very fond of the mirror. AND I eat my greens, which is a big thing if you have other budgies who won`t, since budgies are big copy cats! Sadly, constant egg laying in my previous home and the resulting elevated hormone issues has resulted in weakened bones for me. Prior to a couple of Lupron shots, and would occasionally fall from a perch, but no falls for me since the vet fixed me up! I probably need one more Lupron shot around Christmas time but the vet said that I probably would not need regular shots after that. Wouldn`t you like to bring me to YOUR forever home? Please?!
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
