Hi, I`m Sugar! I was surrendered because I didn`t like my older budgie cage mate so guess I was the one who had to go. :-( I came to Mickaboo because all the scary stuff going on in the world closed the shelter I was staying at. The shelter says: Don`t let Sugar`s petite frame or sweet name fool you, she is one tough cookie! This confident young lady was a bit too much for her former family`s other female budgie so she is now looking for a more well-matched companion. Sugar would probably do best in a larger flock with several other birds. Please can someone take in a budgie girl like me?
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
