Hello I`m Apollo! I am an active budgie who really enjoys my swing. I have a very special "friend" in one of this mirrors. I am a chatty guy. If you whistle or talk to me, I`ll respond, sometimes to the point of being loud and chirpy! I am hand shy. My foster mom can clean my cage or feed me with no problem, but I freak out a little if she does anything different. And I know when dinner time comes around! When my foster mom comes in to give us all our dinner, I hop on & off my treat dish to let her know I`m ready to eat! I am fed Nutri-An cakes, pellets, seeds and greens, plus millet as a treat. I enjoy parsley, lettuce, spinach, beet greens & carrot tops, but not broccoli. My foster mom has started trying to get me to come close to her to snag some millet, but I`m not ready for this and I will start to show stress behavior after a bit. But I`m still a cool little guy...wouldn`t I be a perfect boy for YOUR forever flock?
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
