Hi, I`m Jesse. I was found in a backyard in Sacramento in September 2020 and was turned over to Mickaboo to give me the shelter I needed. Of course, the age posted is a pure guess since I can`t tell you! I like to hang with my buddy Elton in our large, double-flight cage. We will often sit next to each other. I like to eat Avi-Cakes + fresh greens such as celery leaves and romaine. And of course I *love* the millet twigs we get for a treat about once a week. I love to chew and perch on freshly cut branches in the cage. Currently we have this awesome eucalyptus branch, and it`ll stay here until we eventually pull all the leaves off. Then we get a new branch - what fun! I am fairly social and enjoy human interaction through the cage. I will whistle when they talk to me, and get excited and sometimes sing along to music. Our foster parent leaves the radio on for us and all of us budgies get happy when the music comes on. With a little TLC, I bet I could be pretty tame. Both Elton and I have been seen by an aviary vet and have a clean bill of health. One or both of us would make an excellent addition to any forever flock - maybe yours? - as we are laid back and get along well with other birds.
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
